Our four core strands of work

How the four strands tie together

SYNTHESYS Project funding is available to provide scientists based in European Member and Associated States to undertake short visits to utilize the collections, staff expertise and analytical facilities at one of the 21 partner institutions for the purposes of their research.

Apply for Access

Virtual Access

For the first time in the SYNTHESYS programme, SYNTHESYS+ users will be able to propose access to collections digitally. Organisations will digitise their collections in order to provide virtual access. More information about the Virtual Access programme will be released in Summer 2020.

SYNTHESYS+ will develop new collections services and technologies for researchers around the world. Projects include the development of digital collections infrastructure, and applying artificial intelligence to speed up processes that make collections digitally available.

About our Research Activities

The SYNTHESYS+ Network activities will support and develop the infrastructure of natural history collections across Europe.  Stronger networks between collection - holding institutions will produce better opportunities to collaborate in the future.
